Rotherham vs Morecambe Predictions
Rotherham got off to a flying start on Saturday in their first competitive match under Alan Stubbs. They were 2-0 up inside 20 minutes against Wolves with Daniel Ward and Will Vaulks on the scoresheet. However they were pegged back to draw 2-2 against the Black Country side who were reduced to 10 men in the Second Half. It was a solid result and Stubbs will have been pleased with some aspects of the performance given the Millers are again among the strong favourites for the drop. This competition won’t be high up on the priority list but they will be keen to win this.
That should be well within their capabilities. Morecambe are one of the weakest teams in the competition and their awful end to last season spilled over into this one on Saturday as they lost 2-0 at newly promoted Grimsby. They were on the end of some heavy defeats in pre-season losing 6-2 at non-league Halifax and 4-1 at home to Lancashire rivals Preston in their final two friendlies. They don’t head here in confident mood then and have gone 8 games without a competitive victory.
We may see changes from both coaches but Stubbs will want his first win as Rotherham boss to come here and there is nothing about Morecambe that suggests they might cause an upset. These are two sides that aren’t great at the back so goals seem likely here. There have been over 2.5 goals in 6 of Rotherham’s last 7 games including friendlies and 9 of Morecambe’s last 14 games. Two divisions separate the sides and even with a few changes the hosts should have enough to see off their League Two opponents.
Given that backing Rotherham & Over 2.5 Goals at 7/5 looks to offer the best value here.
