Rubin Kazan vs Liverpool Predictions
Rubin Kazan definitely haven’t had the best start to the season they’ve ever enjoyed, but their 1-1 draw at Anfield a few weeks back was an impressive result.
But the Russians have only won two of their last ten matches in all competitions, and five of them have ended in defeat for Rubin Kazan.
This leaves them struggling both domestically and continentally. They are 12th in the Russian Premier League with just 13 points from their first 14 matches and sit at the bottom of Europa League Group B with two points from the opening 3 games.
Rubin Kazan lost 2-0 to Sion in the opening Europa League group match and followed that with a goalless draw at home to Bordeaux and a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
It could be argued that Liverpool deserved to win that game. They had a huge 12 shots on target compared to Rubin Kazan’s two attempts, but they just couldn’t take their chances.
This was Jurgen Klopp’s second game in charge of his new club, and after three straight draws he seems to have found his feet at Anfield.
He picked up his first win in their Capital One Cup win over Bournemouth last week and followed this up with a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge against the struggling Chelsea.
Coming back from a goal behind against Chelsea will have boosted Liverpool’s confidence enormously after recently enduring a five match drawing streak in all competitions.
Their three draws in the opening three Europa League matches has left them in 2nd position in Group B, and a win on Thursday could take them to within a point of group leaders Sion with two games left to play.
I think the win at Chelsea on Saturday will spur the Liverpool players on to get another win on Thursday, and considering Rubin Kazan’s poor form recently I think odds of 17/20 for an away win are good value.
