Santa Clara vs Vitoria Setubal Predictions
Santa Clara might have only won one of their last six matches, but each game has been really close, and their two defeats during that period against two of the top three clubs have both been by a single goal to nil. Vitoria Setubal arrive needing the three points from Saturday’s game to put some breathing room between themselves and the relegation zone, as a defeat this weekend could see the visitors drop to within a point of the third from bottom club.
A goal in the eighteenth minute from Marega proved enough for Porto to claim a narrow 1-0 win over Santa Clara last time out. The visitors didn’t threaten the Porto goal too often, having two shots on and two shots off target, but they frustrated their hosts and on another day might well have pinched a draw. Vitoria Setubal and Portimonense went in goalless at the break last weekend, with neither side really stamping their authority on the match. The second half saw hosts Setubal take the lead against the run of play through Semedo, but Portimonense carved out the equaliser their play deserved three minutes from time and the game ended 1-1.
The performances of the two clubs in recent weeks and their head to head record, suggests that under 2.5 goals will be scored in Saturday’s game and that the most likely result is a draw. Five of the last six meetings between these two teams have produced under 2.5 goals, while all of Santa Clara’s and five of Vitoria Setubal’s last six matches have also seen under 2.5 goals scored. Three of Santa Clara’s and two of Vitoria Setubal’s last six matches have ended in draws. and there are only five points between the two clubs in the Primeira Liga table. Santa Clara have failed to score in three of their last six matches, while Vitoria Setubal have failed to score in two of their last six matches, and we can see Saturday’s game ending in a goalless draw.
Zé Manuel top scores for Santa Clara this season with eight goals, with teammates Rashid and Cardoso both three behind on five apiece. Cádiz needs one more goal to reach double figures in the league for Vitoria Setubal this season and has impressed on-loan from Moreirense. We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored on Saturday, and have predicted a final score of 0-0. When these two teams meet not many goals, if any, are scored, and with the two playing to very similar standards in the Primeira Liga this season we’re expecting a tight and tense affair between the pair once again.
