Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Match Goals
Reasoning
Scotland vs Brazil Predictions
- Brazil have won four of their last five matches with both teams scoring in four
- Scotland have lost their last three games against top-tier nations
- Brazil need to win to top the group and Scotland cannot afford to lose heavily
Scots still scrapping for second phase berth
Scotland probably need to get a point against Brazil at Miami Stadium on Wednesday to get out of Group C and, although it looks a tall order, their cause is not futile. Although Steve Clarke’s men came up short in their second game against Morocco on Friday, there was enough spirit and tactical nous there to suggest they can give the five-time World Cup winners a tough time in Florida.
Clarke changed his line-up and the approach for the Atlas Lions, instructing his team not to press. It appeared to have backfired in the first half when they conceded a sloppy opener when trying to play offside, but they grew into the game and finished much the stronger side.
Morocco are currently ranked one place below Brazil and there is not much difference between the sides in terms of quality. The North African side definitely have more legs in midfield and that could be one area where Scotland can get on top of Carlo Ancelotti’s side with an extra man in the middle.
McTominay must be moved forward
But they have to play Scott McTominay further forward if they want to threaten a goal and squaring that circle won’t be easy. Brazil have goal threats all over the park, but their full-backs are nowhere near as adventurous as in previous years.
Canarinho have the momentum of four wins in their last five following Friday’s 3-0 victory over Haiti. Matheus Cunha took his chance to start with both hands, bagging a double, and Vinicius Junior scored his second of the tournament too.
But Haiti had a couple of chances, including a close-range header from a corner that required Alisson to react sharply, so their clean sheet capability remains questionable. That was their first shutout in seven games and, having seen Panama put two past them last month, it may be better to back both teams to score and over 2.5 goals rather than Brazil to win and BTTS.
