Serbia vs Russia Predictions
- Russia ran out cosy 3-1 winners when the sides met in Moscow two months ago.
- Serbia have won just none of their last eight internationals within 90 minutes (D6, L2).
- Serbia are effectively already relegated to League C after their 1-1 draw in Hungary on Sunday.
Russia to Squeeze Through in Serbia
Despite a poor run of form, Russia can bag the crucial victory that they need to top League B-3 when they square off against Serbia in Belgrade.
Any win will do here for Stanislav Cherchesov’s side who top their section on goal difference going into the final round of fixtures, but a draw will be good enough to promote them to League A should Hungary fail to beat Turkey in Budapest.
And this tie is very much one to look at from a circumstantial point of view. Russia aren’t in great form having failed to win any of their last five internationals (D3, L2) and they were beaten 3-2 in Turkey at the weekend.
But with everything on the line this Wednesday, they should get the job done against a dejected Serbia outfit who have nothing to play for.
The hosts are already relegated to League C and they suffered Euro 2020 disappointment last week here at the hands of Scotland on penalties. Ljumbisa Tumbakovic’s men are in even worse shape form-wise with no wins from eight – a sequence that includes a 3-1 defeat to Russia in September’s reverse clash.
Russia should take advantage of a Serbia side desperate for the year to end and they can follow-up their cosy September win in Moscow. Serbia have scored in four of their last five internationals, so that’s factored into our 1-2 correct score prediction.
