Sevilla vs Villarreal Betting Tips and Predictions 

This is a game that Sevilla really have to win if they are to make the race for that all important 4th place interesting. They currently trail 4th place Villarreal by 8 points but are the closest side to them which is bordering on miraculous given they are yet to win away from home in the league all season. At home though they have a record that any of the top four would envy and they are gunning for an incredible 16th consecutive home win in all competitions here. They’ve only had 3 days to recover though after drawing 0-0 away to Basel in the Europa League and they weren’t entirely convincing in their last home game when they could only beat Eibar 1-0.

Villarreal were also involved in Europe in midweek. They were impressive 2-0 winners against Bayer Leverkusen following their win over Serie A high-flyers Napoli in the last round. The Yellow Submarine looks very much like the real deal and would at least be competitive if they can secure a return to the Champions League. Their 14 game unbeaten run in La Liga was ended last weekend though when they were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at home by Las Palmas.

A draw here would be a fantastic result for Villarreal and it would maintain their sizeable advantage on the sides below them with just 9 games to go. They are certain to come with the same cautious mentality that has helped them grab useful points in tough away games in recent weeks. Their last 3 away matches in La Liga have all finished 0-0 against Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Celta Vigo. They have the 2nd best defensive record in the division and they could really frustrate Sevilla here and the Andalusians have only scored 3 goals in their last 5 matches. Therefore backing there to be under 2.5 goals at 4/5 looks a safe bet here.
