Draw

Reason for tip

Portsmouth have lost just two of their last six games in the Championship, pulling away from the relegation zone in the process, and they could take their foot off the pedal in their remaining games. The draw could therefore be the best bet when they take on Sheffield Wednesday.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in 13 of Portsmouth’s 22 away games in this season’s Championship and 1-1 could therefore appeal as a correct-score selection at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Portsmouth Predictions

  • Portsmouth have lost just two of their last six games
  • These sides have drawn 21 games between them in the Championship
  • Both teams have scored in 13 of Portsmouth’s 22 away games in the league

Pompey on the charge in Championship

Portsmouth have pulled clear of the relegation battle in the Championship after collecting seven points from their last three matches and they can also make life tough for Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Pompey have occupied a place in the bottom three for large parts of the season but things have been looking up for John Mousinho’s men, who are set to finish the season with a flourish after a 5-3 win away to Norwich and a 1-0 defeat of Watford.

There could, however, now be the temptation to take their foot off the pedal slightly and punters should not rush to back a Portsmouth win at Hillsborough.

Wednesday should be buoyed by Boro triumph

Sheffield Wednesday have had a tough time of it on and off the pitch recently but they gave their fans something to cheer on Easter Monday, when they came from 1-0 down to beat playoff-chasing Middlesbrough 2-1.

They impressed going forwards in that game with 25 shots, including 11 on target, and can undoubtedly cause Pompey problems.

But Portsmouth have their own attacking ace in 11-goal Colby Bishop and with just four points separating these teams, the draw is the way to go.

Both teams have scored in 13 of Portsmouth’s 22 away league games this term, so 1-1 appeals in the correct score market.
