That included a hat-trick in the convincing 3-0 win over Granada and on a more positive note, Real Sociedad do seem to be the sort of side that pulls out an impressive win out of nowhere and they enjoy playing the bigger clubs, especially at the Anoeta.

Last season they didn’t lose at home to any of the top eight and pulled off an incredible hat-trick of wins by beating Real Madrid, Barcelona and Sunday’s opponents Atletico Madrid in the Basque Country. They are likely to rise to the occasion again here and given their track record at home to the stronger sides, they look worth a punt at 4/5 to at least get a draw out of this game.

Atletico haven’t been in the best of form of late. Luciano Vietto’s late equaliser in the Madrid Derby last time out spared them a 3rd consecutive defeat but Diego Simeone will be a little concerned with how things have been going.

His new signings haven’t really hit the ground running although the Argentine has generally opted to keep faith with the bulk of his preferred starting eleven from last year. The likes of Vietto will now be pushing for a regular starting berth but they still look a little bit reliant on Antoine Griezmann who returns to his former club here.

Real Sociedad desperately need a big win to get their season going and they might just have enough about them to cause an upset and deliver it here. There are big potential returns to be gained by backing Sociedad to repeat their 2-1 win from this fixture last year at generous odds of 14/1.
