Sint-Truidense vs Charleroi Predictions
- Charleroi were second best against Antwerp last weekend and are still to replace some key players that left in the summer
- After a tough pre-season, St Truiden were beaten by a late winner at Anderlecht in their opening league game
- Neither team created many chances to score and will need to improve a lot to take all three points
Tough to call clash of under-performing sides
Saturday’s Belgian Pro League clash between two clubs that lost their season openers, Sint-Truiden and Charleroi, looks a trappy affair which may result in a draw.
Sint-Truiden held out until the 92nd minute against Anderlecht last week, but came away from Brussels empty-handed.
Charleroi fans, who are still waiting for viable replacements after the departure of a whole series of players in the summer, had little to cheer in their 1-0 home loss to Antwerp.
Opposing goals might be the way to go
Although they almost scrambled a late equaliser, Charleroi struggled to rate chances and at times were unable to construct anything resembling a a decent attack.
Sint Truiden endured a tough pre-season when they were beaten 4-0 by Ajax and 3-0 by Cologne. Those matches may have damaged their confidence on the evidence of a meek showing at Lotto Park last weekend.
Opposing goals might be the way to go in this contest too. But the draw price must also be considered attractive given each side will be desperate not to lose again and put their first point of the season on the board.
