Sint-Truidense vs Charleroi Predictions

  • Only four teams in the Belgian top-flight have a better away record than Charleroi, who have lost just three times on their travels this season, with two of those losses coming against the current top two.
  • Sint-Truidense have won just two of their last nine league games, losing six.
  • Only two teams have lost more home matches than Sint-Truidense in the Belgian top-flight this season.

Charleroi expecting to maintain strong away record

Charleroi currently sit sixth in the Belgian First Division, occupying a play-off place but trailing the top four by eight points. Only four teams have a better away record than Charleroi this season, who have won five, drawn three, and lost three on the road, with two of their defeats coming at pacesetters Union SG and second-placed Antwerp.

Charleroi only managed a goalless draw in their home clash with Sint-Truidense earlier this season, but will be desperate to end a poor run of four without a win on Friday night. Three of Charleroi’s last four outings saw them face top-seven opponents, and they will relish the opportunity to visit a Sint-Truidense team which has struggled at home.

Sint-Truidense have lost six of their 12 home league games this term, a record worse than all bar two teams in the Belgian First Division, amongst them rock-bottom Beerschot. The hosts have also lost six of their last nine league games, slipping into the bottom half after a decent start to the season.

Back visitors to end their recent wobble

Only Brugge, Gent, and Anderlecht have managed more attempts on goal than Charleroi in the Belgian First Division this season, and Edward Still’s team will be hoping to make their dominance count against out-of-shape opponents on Friday.

Considering Sint-Truidense’s poor run of form, backing Charleroi to make their superiority count seems the best play, with a 2-1 away win looking a decent correct score prediction, with both teams scoring in nine of Sint-Truidense’s last 10 home games.
