Slavia Mozyr vs Rukh Brest Predictions

  • Slavia Mozyr have won five of their six competitive games this season, including two wins over BATE.
  • Rukh Brest have lost their last two Belarus Premier League games by 1-0 scorelines.
  • Slavia have won each of their last five home games in all competitions, keeping a clean sheet on three occasions.

Slavia aim for mid-table security

After years of bouncing between divisions, Slavia Mozyr will be hoping they turned a corner last year. They finished in the top 10 of the Belarus Premier League for the first time since 2001 and, despite opening the new season with a defeat, they will be hoping to comfortably avoid relegation again this year.

Their 3-1 defeat away to Slutsk on the opening weekend of the season was undoubtedly a huge disappointment, but they responded in emphatic fashion by defying the odds to beat reigning champions Dinamo Brest and Belarusian dominants BATE. They even followed that with another win over BATE in the first leg of their Belarus Cup semi-final in midweek, so confidence is high at Stadyen Junatsva.

Rukh Brest impress in debut top flight season

For Rukh Brest, their maiden season in the top flight started rather differently. They got off to a flying start with a 1-0 win over Dinamo Minsk, but that scoreline was reversed in back-to-back defeats to Energetik-BGU and BATE.

That being said, the newcomers have made a really good showing of themselves so far. They were founded in 2016 and only entered the footballing pyramid in 2018, achieving consecutive promotions to make it to the top flight. They may have lost their last two matches, but they performed admirably against teams with vastly more experience than themselves.

Home side set to extend winning streak

Rukh Brest may be the classic underdog story, but it’s hard to look beyond Slavia for this clash on Monday. The hosts have won five of their six competitive matches this term, including three wins against the only two teams to lift the Belarus Premier League in the last 14 years. They have also won four of their last five league games and each of their last five competitive home games, so a home win looks very good value here.

We’re expecting another backs-to-the-wall performance from Rukh Brest though. They have lost their last two games by 1-0 scorelines and are yet to see more than a single goal in a top flight game. Slavia have won three of their last five home games without conceding and beat BATE 1-0 in midweek, so a repeat of that scoreline looks attractive for our correct score prediction.
