Switzerland to Win

Reason for tip

Switzerland won the reverse fixture 3-0 and are on a six-game winning run. The visitors should be able to come away with maximum points against a Slovenia outfit who remain winless in qualifying.

Switzerland 2-1

Reason for tip

A Swiss win is expected but this game could be close. Slovenia have scored in 16 of their last 17 home games and have only lost one of those fixtures, so the visitors may have to battle for a victory and a 2-1 Switzerland win has a chance.

Slovenia vs Switzerland Predictions

  • Switzerland have a perfect record in qualifying with nine points from three games.
  • Switzerland won the reverse fixture 3-0.
  • Slovenia remain winless in Group B (D2, L1).

Swiss on verge of World Cup spot

Switzerland appear on course to make it six consecutive appearances at the World Cup as they lead the way in Group B with nine points on the board after three games.

Second place is still very much up for grabs as just three points separate the other three teams, with Kosovo on four and Sweden on one.

Hosts Slovenia have two draws and a defeat after their three games but their 3-0 loss in Switzerland in the reverse fixture suggests they may struggle to add to their total on Monday.

At the current prices, a win for Switzerland looks the best bet and a victory may be enough to guarantee that they finish top of the pile if Kosovo fail to beat Sweden.

The Swiss were in fine form before this qualification cycle began as they are now on a six-game winning run, and they have enough quality to win in Slovenia.

The hosts were one of the surprise packages at Euro 2024 as they reached the knockout stages and were denied by Portugal after penalties. Since then, their form has been solid but unspectacular and they have fallen short against some of the stronger nations – losing twice to Norway in the Nations League.

Switzerland are yet to concede in qualifying but Slovenia are far stronger on home soil and they may at least be able to get on the scoresheet. Matjaž Kek’s side have scored in 16 of their last 17 home games and have only lost one of those fixtures, so this game should be a lot closer than Switzerland’s comfortable win in Basel and a 2-1 win for the visitors has a chance in the correct score market.
