Sochaux are really struggling at the moment, and it’s a good job they’ve started picking up points recently because they’re going to need them. They occupy a relegation position in Ligue 1 and need to make up two points to escape to safety. They have improved in the second half of the season though, so they will be feeling fairly confident of getting out before it’s too late.

In the Coupe de France they have been excellent though. Sochaux started their campaign with extra time wins over Strasbourg and Nancy before beating Pagny Sur Moselle, Bastia, and most impressively Monaco. Sochaux have found it a bit ore difficult, being taken to extra time in their last two rounds against Bordeaux and Mantes 78. The visitors sit in a comfortable but 8th position in Ligue 1. Whether they will prioritise the Coupe de France or the race for 4th position in Ligue 1 remains to be seen.

Sochaux may be in relegation trouble in France’s second tier, but they have started to pick up recently. They come into this match having lost just one of their last nine matches in all competitions, including an impressive win over Monaco in the last round of the Coupe De France. This was one of just two wins during the period, but their difficulty to beat at the moment shouldn’t be ignored when they face a Nantes side who were taken to extra time in their last two rounds of the cup. This, plus the home advantage, makes odds of 7/10 for a Sochaux Win or Draw Double Chance excellent value for money.

Nantes are difficult to beat as well though, and they come into this match having not lost since the end of November, although 11 of their 16 matches since then have been all square after 90 minutes. Away from home they have only managed two wins in 90 minutes in their last eight outings. This makes a draw look like a good backing, so a 1-1 correct score prediction is looking good to me at 5/1.
