Tip Reasoning

Sporting KC remain in the bottom half of the Western Conference table after a really slow start to the new season but recent results suggest they could still challenge for the playoff places. Visiting Dallas sit two positions above the hosts in the final playoff place as things stand but a win for Sporting KC would see the gap between the two clubs reduced to just a point.

Sporting KC destroyed Vancouver Whitecaps in their own backyard last weekend, with an own goal from Adnan handing the visitors a halftime lead. Eleven minutes after the restart Gutierrez made it 2-0 to Sporting KC and with the majority of the possession and more chances created the visitors sealed an impressive performance with a third goal in the final minute from Fernandes.

Dallas made the trip to Saint Paul to face Minnesota United last time out where a tight and tense first half between the pair ended goalless. Dallas created more and had more of the overall possession but it was the hosts that scored the all-important goal in the first minute of stoppage time to win the game, though Dallas should have equalised after being awarded a penalty in the eighth minute of time added on but Ziegler fluffed his lines.

The recent encounters between these two sides and the form and performances of both clubs over the last few weeks all points towards a narrow Sporting KC victory on Sunday. Sporting KC have won four of their last five matches against Dallas and four of the last six meetings between the pair have ended in a win to nil. Sporting KC have won three of their last five matches, while Dallas are without a win away from home in their last six attempts. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Sporting KC’s last five and each of Dallas’ last four matches, which is why we’re backing a 1-0 win for Sporting KC this weekend.

Gutierrez top scores for Sporting KC this season with eight MLS goals, while Badji and Ferreira both lead the way for Dallas with five league goals apiece. We’re confident that Sporting KC will win on Sunday and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0. The hosts have a good record against their guests in recent seasons and Sporting KC are the form favourites heading into kick-off, but Dallas have been involved in a large number of low-scoring games of late which is why we have backed a 1-0 win for the home side.
