St Johnstone vs Aberdeen Predictions
St Johnstone have enjoyed a very good first half to the Scottish Premiership season. They got over their early season poor form and went on a run of nine wins in 11 matches in all competitions.
But December has seen them slip back into the sort of form they endured right at the start of the season. They come into their first match of the new year having only won one of their last five Scottish Premiership matches.
St Johnstone have been defeated by Celtic and Motherwell either side of a draw against Hearts in their last three outings.
This puts them in 4th position in the Scottish Premiership with 31 points from their 20 games so far. They are five points adrift of 3rd placed Hearts and just one point ahead of Ross County in 5th.
Aberdeen remain in 2nd place with an impressive 43 points from their 21 games. They are seven points clear of Hearts and level on points with leaders Celtic, although the Scottish Champions have two games in hand and the newly promoted Hearts have one game in hand.
Aberdeen will surely be cursing their major slip up in the middle of the first half of the season. They lost four out of five matches in the Scottish Premiership which saw them lose the top spot in the league after their perfect start to the season.
They are now unbeaten in eight matches though, although back to back draws against Inverness CT and Partick Thistle will be a bit of a disappointment.
But they will be fairly confident coming up against St Johnstone at the moment. The hosts have only won one of their last five home league games, losing against Celtic and Partick Thistle and failing to beat Dundee FC and Hearts.
This makes odds of 11/10 for Aberdeen to collect their 3rd straight away victory look good value to me, and I’m also going to back a 2-1 Aberdeen Win at 8/1.
