St Mirren vs Kilmarnock Predictions
Back Buddies to deliver
St Mirren should be backed to beat Kilmarnock at home in the Premiership on Saturday. The visitors have been poor on the road this season, with just one win in eight away games, and St Mirren manager Steve Robinson will be hopeful of getting a result against Stuart Kettlewell’s side.
They are two places and five points above Kilmarnock in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season. The hosts are ninth with four wins and seven losses, while Kilmarnock sit 11th with two wins and ten defeats.
St Mirren maintained their winning habit with a 1-0 victory over Livingston, Mikael Mandron scoring the only goal of the game on 72 minutes. They restricted Livingston to one shot on target and justified their price of 5/6 to win the game, making it two wins in the two matches in which St Mirren have been odds-on this season.
St Mirren are in form, having enjoyed two straight Premiership successes at home.
They have found the net in their last four league games, and they’ve scored at least twice in two of those. They were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Aberdeen three weeks ago.
Kilmarnock are out of form, and backing their opponents during their current run of nine defeats in 11 Premiership games would have resulted in a profit of 6.40 units. They have two wins from their 15 games as an underdog this season.
Kilmarnock are enduring a difficult run of results, having gone 11 games without recording a victory and losing nine of their last 11 Premiership matches. They have failed to win eight of their last nine Premiership away games and have sustained three successive reverses.
They have been disappointing defensively away from home this season, conceding 17 goals in eight Premiership games – an average of 2.13 goals per game. No team has a worse defensive record in the Premiership than Kilmarnock this season, with 33 goals against in 18 games overall. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 11 Premiership matches and have gone 17 of their last 20 without a shutout.
St Mirren may be able to edge out Kilmarnock in a close game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick. 11 of Kilmarnock’s 18 matches in the league this season have produced three or more goals and three of St Mirren’s four Premiership victories this season have been by one goal.
