Stabaek vs Haugesund Predictions
Just one win in eight is all Stabaek can show for their efforts in recent times, so it’s fair to say that Toni Ordinas’s men are going through a rough patch. The hosts arrive here off the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat, while they also let themselves down in their most recent home match when drawing 0-0 against Bodo / Glimt. Improvement is very much needed if the hosts are to move out of the drop-zone anytime soon.
In stark contrast, the visitors have been enjoying themselves this season and they’re now sitting in a lofty fourth position, just a point behind Ranheim, who currently occupy that all-important third European spot. Having drawn with Lillestrom last time out, Haugesund are now unbeaten in three league matches, while they’ve lost just one of their last 12, eight of which they’ve won.
While they’ve performed modestly on their own patch, Haugesund have come alive on the road. As things stands, only one team in the entire division has accumulated more points away from home than Sunday’s visitors, while they’re currently the Eliteserien’s top scorers on their travels. Having seen how Stabaek, who’ve now conceded seven goals in four matches, have defended of late, the visitors ought to fancy their chances of improving their already impressive away record.
As recent away matches suggest, Haugesund are willing to go away and get on the front foot. Such tactics has indeed seen them score plenty of goals, nine in their last five travelling matches to be exact, though it does leave them a tad exposed at the back. The visitors have scored an impressive 13 goals in seven away matches, but they’ve also conceded eight, while they’ve now conceded in four of their last five away from home.
Even though Stabaek have a reasonably pleasing defensive record at home this season having conceded just six in six at Nadderud Stadion, if their recent defensive efforts are anything to go by, they’ll struggle to keep an attack-minded Haugesund at bay, just as they did against both Sarpsborg and Molde. However, they’ve rarely failed to offer a threat on their own patch, so goals of their own may not be so hard to come by.
With Haugesund likely to attack a Stabaek team who’ve caved easily at the back in recent matches, this could end up being a relatively open game right from the word go. If that is to be the case, both teams should find themselves with chances. ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ a bet that has landed in four of Haugesund’s last five away matches, catches the eye.
