Burnley 2-0

Reason for tip

Burnley have kept three clean sheets in their last four league games while netting multiple goals in each of their last seven Championship outings. With only Wigan Athletic and Blackpool having worse home Championship records than Stoke this term, the Clarets may be set for a routine evening.

Stoke vs Burnley Predictions

  • Burnley have won four consecutive Championship games, losing just once in their last 21 matches.
  • Stoke City have only won one of their last five home games, losing three in that run.
  • The visitors have hit three goals in each of their last four league games, scoring multiple goals in seven consecutive matches.

Festive cheer for Clarets

The festive period has thus far been a productive time for Burnley, who trounced Birmingham City 3-0 last time out to make it four Championship wins on the spin – and just one defeat in their last 21 league games. Vincent Kompany’s leaders head to lowly Stoke City on Friday, looking to ensure they end 2022 at the top of the second tier.

Burnley’s outstanding run of form has been built on a sublime attacking record – Kompany’s men have scored multiple goals in each of their last seven Championship games (a total of 19 goals) and have scored three goals in each of their last four league contests. While an unbeaten home record has contributed to Burnley building a huge 11-point lead over third-placed Blackburn Rovers, they have also improved on the road of late, taking 10 points from their last five away games.

Stoke City, meanwhile, were held to a disappointing draw by Rotherham United last time out, making it one win from their last four league games. Alex Neil’s men may have held Burnley to a 1-1 draw back in October, but only Wigan Athletic (nine) and Blackpool (10) have picked up fewer home points this term than their 12 among second-tier clubs, and they have lost three of their last five games at the bet365 Stadium.

Visitors can end 2022 on a high

Burnley’s outstanding recent form – as well as Stoke’s poor home record – makes backing Kompany’s men a no-brainer on Friday. The Clarets are unbeaten in four head-to-head meetings with the Potters, and that record looks set to be extended.

With Burnley keeping three clean sheets in their last four league games while continuing to impress going forwards, a 2-0 away win may represent a good value correct score prediction for Friday’s game.
