Strasbourg should be backed to get a home win over Montpellier on Sunday.

They are in ninth place, eight spots above Montpellier, who are 17th with four wins and 13 losses from their 20 games. Strasbourg have won seven, drawn six and lost seven this season, while Montpellier have just four wins so far.

Strasbourg were beaten last Sunday, losing 1-0 to out-of-form Rennes, who ended a run of four straight Ligue 1 defeats. Strasbourg were priced at 12/5 to win the game and this looks easier as Liam Rosenior’s side bid to make it three home wins in a row.

It’s hard to draw many conclusions from Montpellier’s recent results, with two wins, one draw and three defeats in their last six games. They lost 2-0 to Lens last week in their most recent Ligue 1 outing.

Montpellier have been disappointing in front of goal away from home this season, scoring just five goals in nine games – an average of 0.6 goals a game on the road. They have also lost four of their last five Ligue 1 away games without scoring.

Their away form is a major concern, with eight defeats in their last nine Ligue 1 games on the road. They will do well to improve on that dismal record here.

Back Strasbourg to come out on top, and with their last two league wins coming via 2-1 scorelines, that is the correct-score pick.
