Swindon Town vs Wigan Betting Tips & Predictions

Swindon Town missed out on promotion to the Championship last season after being comprehensively beaten 4-0 in the playoff final against Preston North End, and unfortunately for them it doesn’t look like they’ll be getting another chance this season.

They come into this match in a disappointing 14th position in League One, and although the eight point gap between them and 6th placed Barnsley isn’t insurmountable they would still have to outperform eight other teams to claim the position.

Swindon are trying their best to do this though. They are enjoying a seven match unbeaten streak in the league and have won four times during this period. But Wigan will be extremely tough opponents.

The visitors are vying for an automatic promotion spot after being relegated last term. They are level on points with 3rd placed Walsall and six points off top of the table Burton. As far as form goes, Wigan are unbeaten since the middle of December, with nine of their 16 matches since then ending in victory for them.

This should be a very tight match on Friday. Swindon Town are in very good form and have won four of their last six games on home turf, and have lost just two of their last 11; they have also never been beaten at home by Wigan. But the visitors are formidable opponents who haven’t lost any of their last ten away matches.

However, Wigan have only managed draws in four of their last six on the road, so I think the in form hosts have a great chance of getting something from them. Odds of 10/11 for a Swindon Win or Draw Double Chance look too good to pass up on, and I’m backing this along with a 1-1 draw at 11/2.
