Torino to Win

Reason for tip

Torino were tough to beat at home last season, losing just two of their 19 Serie A games, and have made a strong start to the current campaign with a cup win and a draw at AC Milan – with two late goals denying them a win at the san Siro. Il Toro are facing an Atalanta side who have lost a number of key men from last season and they can grind out a victory against the Europa League winners.

Torino 1-0

Reason for tip

Torino’s home games averaged just 1.4 goals per-game last term and they have six clean sheets in their last seven at this venue. Il Toro kept Atalanta at bay in a 3-0 win in the corresponding fixture last term but are unlikely to win quite so convincingly, take a chance on a 1-0 win for the home side.

Torino vs Atalanta Predictions

  • Torino lost just twice at home in Serie A last season.
  • Atalanta are without Teun Koopmeiners and Ademola Lookman.
  • Il Toro are unbeaten this season.

Torino can take advantage of La Dea disarray

Torino came close to a stunning win at AC Milan in the opening round of Serie A games but they can claim a big scalp on Sunday when Europa League winners Atalanta visit Turin.

La Dea won 4-0 at Lecce in the opening round of games and have recruited well over the summer, but they are facing the prospect of losing two of last season’s stars as Teun Koopmeiners and Ademola Lookman edge closer to moves to Juventus and PSG respectively.

Neither will play on Sunday, and Torino’s home record and start to the season suggests they can get a result against a new-look Atalanta side that may need a bit of time to gel.

Il Toro only lost twice at home in Serie A last term and they beat Atalanta 3-0 in the corresponding fixture last season. Admittedly, they did collapse late on against Milan – conceding twice in the closing stages of that 2-2 draw – but with home advantage this week they might be able to secure an eye catching win here.

Clean sheets were the key for Torino at home last season as they kept five in their final six games in Turin, and they kept Cosenza at bay in the Coppa Italia before their Serie A opener.

Torino had the best home record in terms of defence last season in Serie A with just nine goals conceded but they also only scored 18 themselves in 19 games, so a 1-0 win for the hosts makes sense as a correct score prediction.
