Tranmere can edge Crewe in tight Prenton Park contest

Tranmere are the best bet to beat out-of-form Crewe at home in League Two on Saturday.

This is a mid-table clash, with Crewe four places and four points above Tranmere. Crewe, in 11th, have won eight of their 18 games this season, while Tranmere have five wins.

Goals have proved easy to come by for Tranmere lately. They have scored in eight of their last nine league games, including a 4-1 win over Bristol Rovers in October, and have netted at least twice in three successive League Two games.

They have lost just one of their last six home games in League Two.

The visitors’ recent results do not inspire confidence. Crewe have failed to win any of their last three League Two away games, and have gone six of their last seven without tasting victory on the road.

They have been finding it hard to keep out their opponents lately, failing to keep a clean sheet in 17 of their last 20 League Two games.

A narrow 1-0 victory for Tranmere looks the most likely outcome in the correct-score market. Five of the last seven League Two meetings between these sides have gone under 2.5 goals and Tranmere have been single-goal winners in two of their last three games.
