Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Juventus saw under 2.5 goals in 79% of their away games last season and the visitors kept the second-most clean sheets in Serie A last term. However, Max Allegri’s approach dulls the influence of his more attack-minded stars and that should lead to a quiet affair.

Udinese vs Juventus Predictions

  • Juve have won the last three meetings between these sides either 1-0 or 2-0

Juve hope for title success

With no European football for Juventus this term, their big hope for the campaign is to return to title contention. However, Serie A remains the most competitive of all the top five leagues at the top of the table and Max Allegri’s reign hasn’t exactly brought the club back to their dominance of old.

During Juve’s spell as Italy’s dominant force and a Champions League contender, Allegri had Serie A in his grip. Now, the former AC Milan boss looks to be holding back a talented side, with his regressive style playing against the talents of striker Dusan Vlahovic. The fact the club were keen to replace the 23-year-old with Romelu Lukaku this summer suggests the club are behind the direct style.

That’s a shame for the likes of Fabio Miretti – the 20-year-old who is set to become a factor in Juve’s midfield this season. He’s capable of more, as is Manuel Locatelli who was a symbol of a more modern Italy team at Euro 2020. Allegri’s 3-5-2 stifles some of his best players, which plays into Udinese’s hands.

Expect a close clash

Juve saw under 2.5 goals in 79% of their away games last term and this game should be a similar story. They won 1-0 at Udinese in June, with the hosts losing to nil in three of their final four games last term.

While Allegri does little for Juve’s forward-thinking players, he is a man who can organise a defence. Only Lazio managed more than their 20 clean sheets last term and the Italian giants have won three straight meetings with Udinese to nil. Look to a low-scoring win, with Juve to edge it.
