Ajax/Ajax

Reason for tip

Ajax ran out winners in 18 of their last 21 Eredivisie matches while 24 of their last 29 league successes also saw them lead at both HT/FT. We predict that Ajax can further strengthen those streaks at the Galgenwaard.

Ajax 3-0

Reason for tip

Ajax won with a multi-goal margin in their last three league visits to Utrecht and conceded just once across the last five away league H2Hs.

Utrecht vs Ajax Predictions

  • Ajax won 18 of their last 21 Eredivisie games, including all three this season.
  • Ajax were leading at both HT/FT in 24 of their last 29 league victories (83%).
  • Half of Utrecht’s league defeats since the start of 2021/22 came at both HT/FT.

A big ask for Utrecht

After recording a winless start to the league season (D2, L1), Utrecht face one of the toughest tests in the Dutch footballing calendar, a home encounter with serial winners and reigning Eredivisie champions Ajax.

The bounce back is expected at some stage with Utrecht perennially challenging for the European play-off positions, though that is unlikely to come in this encounter with the hosts winless across each of the last five home H2Hs, scoring just once in that time.

On the other hand, Ajax have barely put a foot wrong since the start of the Eredivisie campaign, winning all three games, two of which also saw them lead at the interval. In fact, 24 of Ajax’s last 29 league wins saw them lead at both half-time and full-time, making for a convincing 83% rate!

Schreuder can improve upon personal records

Life under Alfred Schreuder has been positive so far for Ajax, and with their Champions League group announced during the week, players will be looking to impress the manager in the coming weeks ahead of big games against the likes of Rangers, Napoli and Liverpool.

Schreuder is yet to beat his opposite number, Henk Fraser (D1, L2) though this seems like the perfect opportunity to do so at the helm of arguably the Netherlands’ strongest club.

We’re backing Ajax to win at both HT/FT in this encounter, with a smaller stakes selection going the way of a commanding 3-0 scoreline.
