      Vikingur Reykjavik vs Kr Predictions

Vikingur Reykjavik endured a rather disappointing season last term as they 9th in the Iceland Urvalsdeild, earning themselves just 23 points from their 22 league games. This was a drastic step down from their 4th place finish the season before, which was their highest finish in the league since 1991.

However, this season they look set to improve on last season’s disappointments, and at the halfway point in the season they find themselves in 5th position in the Urvalsdeild with 18 points from their first 11 games. A win on Monday could sent them up to 2nd and to within a point of the leaders FH, whilst a defeat could see them slip to 7th in the table.

Vikingur Reykjavik’s form is a bit inconsistent though. Their 2-0 win against Throttur last Monday made it two wins, one draw, and three defeats for them in all competitions, and in the Urvalsdeild they have won four, drawn one, and lost two of their last seven games. This is a decent return, but they have only managed to win back to back games once so far this season.

KR haven’t had a particularly good season after their 3rd place finish in the Urvalsdeild last season. They were knocked out of the Europa League this week as Grasshopper beat them 2-1 at home to make it 5-4 on aggregate. This ended their five match unbeaten streak in all competitions, but prior to that they had lost five out of six.

The visitors Urvalsdeild form doesn’t look good though. They have won just one of their last five league matches and lost three times, which puts them down in 10th position in the table with just 13 points from their 11 games so far. They are five points clear of the relegation zone, but it’s still not a good enough return for a team who often challenge for the title.

It could be difficult for them to get anything from this game too. They have only won one of their five away days in the Urvalsdeild and that was against relegation threatened Fylkir. They have lost three of their other four trips away too, and they’re coming up against a Vikingur Reykjavik side who have won three on the bounce at home. They could be tired after their trip to Switzerland in midweek too, so that’s not going to work in their favour.

The hosts have lost just one of their home games this season too, so my prediction is for a Vikingur Reykjavik 0.0 Asian Handicap Win at excellent value odds of 2.150, and I’m going for a 2-1 correct score prediction at 11/1 as well.
