Villarreal vs Getafe Betting Tips & Predictions

This is perhaps quite a nice game for Villarreal to have between the two legs of a tough Europa League Quarter Final with Sparta Prague in which they won the 1st Leg 2-1 at El Madrigal on Thursday. Their league form had been struggling a little and they’d gone 4 matches without a win prior to their victory at Eibar last weekend and with other results going in their favour too they have restored their 8 point lead on the chasing pack in the race for Champions League football next term. That’s a good cushion to have and allows them to really target the Europa League too and even if they make a few changes they should be too strong for Getafe.

The Madrid club have gone 11 matches without a win since beating Espanyol in mid January. That victory left them in the top half but only 2 points from those subsequent 11 games have seen them plummet down the table. Their away form has been atrocious for even longer than that and they’ve won just 1 of their last 19 away league matches and have lost all of the last 6. They have conceded 2 or more goals in all of the last 5 and haven’t scored themselves in any of them.

Not great form then to be heading to El Madrigal which has been a fortress for Villarreal this season. They have won 18 of their 24 home games in all competitions and 13 of those victories have been to nil. With Getafe looking so poor at both ends right now surely backing Villarreal to win to nil at 5/4 looks a good bet here and the result would leave the Yellow Submarine on the brink of the Champions League and Getafe in serious danger of dropping down to the Segunda Division.
