Goals at both ends expected in final-day clash

Both teams have been finding the net in recent meetings between Villarreal and Sevilla at Estadio de la Ceramica, and that looks set to continue on Sunday. The last three times that Villarreal have hosted Sevilla in the Primera Liga have all ended with both sides scoring.

Villarreal are fifth in the league, and can’t improve their position on the final day. They are ten places above Sevilla, with a 26-point gap between the two sides. The hosts have 19 wins, ten draws and eight losses, while Sevilla sit 15th with ten wins, 11 draws and 16 defeats.

Villarreal are in form, aiming for a sixth straight Primera Liga success, and they are unbeaten in five of their last six meetings with these opponents. Sevilla have lost four away games in a row and have only won on one of their last six road trips.

Both teams have been struggling at the back. Villarreal have failed to keep a clean sheet in 12 of their last 15 Primera Liga games against Sevilla, while the visitors have not kept out their opponents in 12 of their last 15 league matches.

The two sides have found the net in plenty of the home side’s games this season, with both teams to score a winner in 13 of Villarreal’s 18 Primera Liga home games. Five of the last seven times that Villarreal have hosted Sevilla in the league have also seen both sides scoring.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking a decent correct-score bet. There have been fewer than three goals in five of Sevilla’s last seven Primera Liga games.
