      Tip Reasoning

      • Watford have lost just one of their nine Premier League games under Nigel Pearson.
      • Watford are unbeaten in their last six competitive home games.
      • Everton have only won two of their 12 Premier League away games this season.
      • Two of Everton’s last four Premier League away games have ended 1-1.

Hornets look on track for safety under Pearson

Watford may have suffered the ignominy of being knocked out of the FA Cup by Tranmere last week, but their ongoing resurgence in the Premier League is nothing short of extraordinary.

Just a couple of short months ago, Watford looked on course for relegation from the top flight. They were rock bottom of the table and had won just one of their opening 14 Premier League matches. A 2-1 defeat to Southampton saw Quique Sanchez Flores, their second manager of the season, sacked.

Since then they have lost just three of their 10 league matches, and now they are inside the relegation zone on goal difference alone. Not only that, but they’re a team on the rise amid a group of strugglers, and with four wins in their last seven top flight games we’re expecting to see them rise out of the drop zone soon.

      Toffees’ away day struggles continue

Everton’s season has been remarkably similar to the Hornets’. They were also on course for a disastrous season, but a 5-2 thrashing at the hands of arch rivals Liverpool saw Marco Silva axed and that has changed the course of their campaign. They have only lost once in the league since then, leaving them 12th in the table and only four points off the top five.

The Toffees are in excellent shape right now, but they are still struggling to pick up points on the road under Carlo Ancelotti. They have only won two of their 12 Premier League away days this season, picking up nine points from a possible 36 in total.

Watford set to extend unbeaten streak at Vicarage Road

That makes this clash with Watford a difficult one, and it becomes even tougher once you take a look at the hosts’ recent home record. They haven’t lost any of their last five Premier League games at Vicarage Road, which includes wins against Manchester United and Wolves and a draw with Spurs. All things considered, we think backing a Watford Win or Draw Double Chance is an excellent choice.

Everton are undeniably tough to beat under Ancelotti though. Two of their last four away games have ended 1-1, and with Watford scoring 0.92 goals per home game and conceding 1.16 we think backing another 1-1 draw is the way to go here.
