Watford vs West Ham Predictions

Watford couldn’t make it three wins in a row last time out as they were defeated 2-0 at Old Trafford, but they do have reason to be hopeful considering their overall recent form. They have won two, drawn two, and lost one of their last five Premier League matches and look to be over their poor spell that they had in December.

This has lifted them to 13th in the Premier League, and they now hold a comfortable looking ten point cushion over the relegation zone. This is largely down to an increase in their attacking output. They have scored six goals in the last four Premier League matches, which when compared to their two goals in the previous six matches, is a huge improvement.

Defensively they still don’t look overly comfortable though, which has resulted in four of their last seven outings seeing at least three goals scored. They’re coming up against a free scoring West Ham side on Saturday as well, so we could be in for some entertainment.

The visitors were held 2-2 at home to West Brom last time out, thanks to a 94th minute equaliser from The Baggies’ Gareth McAuley. This makes it three wins, one draw, and one defeat in their last five games in the Premier League.

The Hammers have notched 11 goals in these five games and conceded eight at the other end, resulting in all of them having at least three goals scored in total. Away from home they have a similar record of three wins from their last five games, and six of their last eight in all competitions have been high scoring affairs.

It was Manuel Lanzini who was the star of the show for West Ham last time round as he netted a fantastic goal to put them ahead against West Brom. This was his 5th league goal of the season, and with him in such scintillating form I can see him causing the Watford defence a lot of problems. Odds of 7/2 for him to score anytime look excellent value for our goalscorer predictions.

Overall I’m expecting a high scoring affair here, and odds of 1/1 for Over 2.5 Goals look very good value. I think West Ham could get the win as well, so I’m also backing a 2-1 correct score predictions at 11/1.
