Blues to strike in West Midlands derby

The bookmakers are struggling to split West Brom and Birmingham before Wednesday’s derby clash but the visitors have been stronger recently and could secure three points when they visit the Hawthorns.

Blues have won four of their last six games and put four past Norwich on Saturday as they climb the Championship table.

By contrast the Baggies have only won three of their last 12 outings and currently sit 17th in the second tier. Ryan Mason’s men were 2-0 up against league leaders Coventry at the weekend before losing 3-2 and their track record against these rivals does not inspire confidence.

Birmingham have won four of the last five head-to-heads and have been in devastating attacking form as of late, scoring 13 goals in their last four games.

West Brom have failed to score in three of their last five matches and the difference in attacking output could be the deciding factor in this one.

Birmingham have not been as good on the road as they have at home but considering the recent struggles of their opponents, that should not matter too much.

Take the away side to win this one and correct score backers should note that four of Birmingham’s last five games have gone over 2.5 goals so a 2-1 win for Blues is the fancy.
