Western Sydney Wanderers vs Adelaide United Predictions

Western Sydney Wanderers managed a win against Newcastle Jets last week to keep pace at the top of the Hyundai A-League, and surprisingly it was a single goal that settled the tie. Before this match they hadn’t kept a clean sheet since New Years Day and had seen at least two goals in all of their matches since then.

This puts them in 2nd position in the A-League, level on points with top of the table Brisbane Roar and two points ahead of Adelaide United in 3rd. Both teams could end the weekend either at the top of the table or in 4th position, such is the tightness of the race for the top spot.

Adelaide United’s loss to Melbourne City on Friday was also limited to just the single goal, and it is thanks to this result that the race at the top of the table remains so tight.

This defeat ended a four match winning streak for Adelaide United, and their incredible form over the past few months has put their eight match winless streak at the start of the season well and truly out of mind.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a very tight match on Saturday. Both teams have looked excellent this season and are vying for the top spot in the A-League table, but I think one thing we can expect is goals.

Last weekend’s 1-0 scorelines for both of these sides is likely to just be an anomaly. Western Sydney Wanderers have only seen under three goals in three of their last ten matches and both teams have got on the scoresheet in every match apart from last weekend’s during this run.

Adelaide United’s record is similar, with three or more goals being scored in seven of their last ten matches and both teams scoring in three of their last five away days in the A-League. This makes odds of 10/11 for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score look very attractive, and I’m going for a 2-2 correct score prediction at 11/1 as well.
