Wigan vs Blackburn Rovers Predictions
- Both teams have scored in four of Wigan’s last five home games.
- Blackburn have conceded in four of their last five away matches across all competitions.
- Both teams scored in seven of the last ten H2Hs held in Wigan.
Two consistently inconsistent sides clash
Wigan were relatively quiet during the summer transfer window and suffering defeat just once across their opening eight matches is likely to have come as a surprise to supporters. However, they’ve lost three of the following four games ahead of this clash, highlighting the hosts’ inconsistencies.
After an exceptional start to the season where they won all of their opening three games, things have gone rather sour for Blackburn. The visitors have alternated between wins and losses across their last ten competitive games, making it very tricky to put our finger on what sort of Blackburn we’ll see!
H2Hs between the sides held in Wigan have often been ding-dong affairs though, seven of the last ten such matches held here saw goals at both ends, and that’s the way we’re looking to play this given the topsy turvy form of both teams.
Going for goals
Wigan’s eye-catching start to the league season has faded into obscurity and three defeats in four games makes it difficult to stick with them.
Blackburn have looked vulnerable on their travels with four defeats in five away trips, so backing both teams to score may be the way to go.
We wouldn’t want to bank on either of these two outright so will instead opt for both teams to hit the back of the net in a possible 1-1 draw.
