      Wrexham to Win

      Reason for tip

Oxford United should struggle on the road in midweek as they have only picked up four points in five second-tier matches on the road. Wrexham are winless on home soil in the Championship, but they have only lost one of their last five at home in all competitions and have steadied the ship in recent weeks.

      Wrexham 1-0

      Reason for tip

The visitors have not had much joy on the road this season in five Championship away games and they have failed to trouble the scoresheet in two of those ties. Wrexham have not conceded more than one goal in any of their last three at home in all competitions.

      Wrexham vs Oxford United Predictions

Parkinson’s troops to get off the mark at the sixth time of asking

Wrexham look the best bet when they host Oxford on Wednesday. This looks an easier assignment for Wrexham, who have had to face Stoke and Leicester – two of the top four – recently. They took one point from those games.

They are 18th in the Championship, one place above Oxford, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season. Wrexham have two wins, four draws and four losses from their ten games, while Oxford have won twice, drawn three and lost five.

Goals have proven easy to come by for the hosts this season, with Wrexham averaging two goals a game in their three Championship games against teams in the bottom six.

The visitors have struggled defensively of late, conceding seven goals away from home this season in the Championship – an average of 1.40 goals per game from five matches.

Oxford have been in patchy form recently, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six Championship games. They beat Derby and Bristol City, but also lost 1-0 to 23rd-placed Sheffield United.

A 1-0 win for Wrexham at home looks a decent correct-score pick. Five of Wrexham’s last seven Championship games have had fewer than three goals and all of Oxford’s five losses this season have been by a single goal.
