- Coventry are without an away win in League 1 this season, despite playing nine matches on the road.
- Wycombe have scored an average of 2.00 goals at home. Coventry average 1.11 on the road.
- Wycombe have an average-shots on target supremacy of +1.73 at home in League 1 this season.
- Coventry have an average-shots on target supremacy of +0.89 on their travels in League 1.
League leaders look to steady themselves
Wycombe continue to lead the way in League 1, but it’s fair to say that their efforts of late haven’t been great. Given how good they have been for most of the campaign, a slip-up here and there is allowed and is only to be expected, though The Chairboys will have to bounce back soon if they’re to continue bowling along in front.
Gareth Ainsworth’s men have now lost two on the bounce, though both of those defeats came away from home against strong sides. On their own patch, Wycombe remain in excellent form having won each of their last four, in each of which they’ve kept a clean sheet. In addition, Wycombe currently rank as League 1’s best home team. They’ve won nine and drawn just two of their 11 games at Adams Park this term, scoring 22 goals and conceding ten in the process.
Problems on the road for Sky Blues
Wycombe aren’t the only ones whose form has waned of late. Coventry have also struggled to get going. The Sky Blues were without a league win in December, but they got into the Christmas spirit on the 21st with a timely win over Lincoln. Having been afforded Boxing Day off, Mark Robins men should come into this game refreshed and raring to go.
However, playing away from home has not agreed with Coventry this term, not one bit. The Sky Blues have won none of their nine away games this term. They have lost just two of those nine, but a lack of travelling wins has certainly held them back.
Hosts too big to avoid
Despite a relatively poor away record, Coventry are no mugs and are certainly not easy to beat, though if we consider the achievements of both teams, it’s easy to feel that Wycombe have been overlooked slightly in the betting. It feels as though the last few games have been factored into the price of the hosts a little too much. The excellent home form of The Chairboys cannot be ignored. Frankly, Wycombe’s home efforts are superior to Coventry’s on the road. They’ve performed better in terms points and goals, as well as in terms of both shots and shots on target. Having beaten some useful sides such as Sunderland, Burton, Shrewsbury and Doncaster of late, the hosts are backed to get the better of a Coventry side that remains winless on the road.
