Eight of the last nine meetings between these two Spanish giants have contained at least three goals, as have three of Barca’s five most recent home games, and Real’s last three domestic outings

Barcelona 2-1

Reason for tip

Barca have won the last three meetings between these two teams, including a 2-1 victory before the international break, one of six occasions in their last dozen matches when they have netted at least twice. Real meanwhile have netted exactly once in three of their last seven games

Barcelona vs Real Madrid Predictions

  • There have been three or more goals in three of Barcelona’s last five home games
  • Three of Real Madrid’s last four outings have contained more than two strikes
  • Eight of the last nine meetings between these two giants have contained at least least goals

Can Barca book their place in Seville?

An Eder Militao own goal was enough to earn Barcelona a 1-0 lead in the first leg of this Copa del Rey last four clash, but they will know their passage to the final in Estadio de La Cartuja is far from secure.

Interestingly, that game at the Bernabeu is the only time in the last nine meetings between these two sides that there have been fewer than three goals in the game.

That includes a recent 2-1 league victory for Barca over Real, when Franck Kessie netted a late winner, and a 3-1 victory for Xavi’s side n the Spanish Super Cup final earlier this year.

The Catalan outfit have won five of the last eight editions of this tournament and built up to their trip to this fixture by beating Elche 4-0 on Saturday, their second successive game with at least three goals.

Andreas Christensen, Frenkie De Jong, Pedri and Ousmane Dembélé all missed that match through injury, but they have Raphinha back from suspension.

Real have it all to do

Real Madrid also registered a thumping victory at the weekend, battering Real Valladolid 6-0, their third straight domestic outing to include at least three goals.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who incredibly haven’t won the Copa del Rey since beating Barca in the 2014 final, have now seen seven of their last dozen matches contain in excess of two strikes.

And they will need that goalscoring form as they look to avoid a fourth straight defeat to their bitter rivals, something that hasn’t happened since 2008 to 2010.

The manager might be able to call upon Antonio Rudiger after injury, but Ferland Mendy is out, while Nacho returns from suspension to bolster the back line.

I predict that there will be three or more goals in this game, but Barcelona have a strangle hold over Real at the moment, so a 2-1 home victory is my correct score prediction.
