Can Empoli keep going?

It has been an impressive start to the season for Empoli, who are unbeaten across all competitions after seven outings.

Four of those games have ended in victory, albeit two in the Coppa Italia, while they have also registered Serie A successes against Cagliari and Roma, both by a 2-1 scoreline.

Each of those wins where on the road, but the matches at home have been somewhat tougher. Juventus were held to a 0-0 draw, and you have to track back six outings to March for their last league defeat at Stadio Carlo Castellani.

Fiorentina need to improve on the road

That is not good news for Fiorentina, who are heading to a venue where they have failed to win in four attempts, losing twice and drawing a further two fixtures.

The Purples are also struggling on the road this season, with a recent Serie A defeat to Atalanta (3-2) extending a run to three games without success on their travels.

They did beat Lazio on home soil last time out, but that remains their only victory in seven attempts over the course of the 2024/25 campaign.

I predict that Empoli will win this game, but it might well be tight given their home defensive record, so 1-0 is my correct score prediction.
