      Manchester City vs Cardiff Predictions

The back and forth at the top of the Premier League continued at the weekend, with Manchester City landing the first blow with a routine win over Fulham before Liverpool struck back with an impressive display at home to Spurs. As it stands, Liverpool lead the race by two points, but with Manchester City playing their game in hand on Wednesday they will be expecting to return to the summit.

That win over The Cottagers made it seven victories on the trot for The Citizens in the Premier League, and they have won 11 of their last 12 league outings. In this time they have netted a massive 30 goals, taking their season tally to a league high 81 goals.

At home they are even more impressive, winning 15 of their 16 league outings this season and notching 53 goals on the way. This includes potentially crucial wins over four of the remaining Big Six teams, with only Spurs left to visit the Etihad in an attempt to stop them from clinching a clean sweep of big team victories.

Cardiff aren’t really expected to put up much of a fight on Wednesday, despite their impressive display against Chelsea at the weekend. That showing against Maurizio Sarri’s side may have been impressive, but ultimately it was a fruitless effort as Chelsea scored a late double to reverse the 1-0 scoreline.

This keeps The Bluebirds in serious relegation trouble. They remain in 18th position, but they now lie five points adrift of safety with just seven games left to play. Their weekend meeting with Burnley could prove crucial in their quest for safety.

In fairness to Cardiff, their recent form hasn’t been too bad. They have won three of their last seven league games, but the fact that just one of these came away from home is a telling condemnation of their problems this season. Neil Warnock’s side have won just twice away from home this season, losing 10 of their 14 trips away.

For all their faults, Cardiff have managed to score in five of their last eight away matches, and they’re facing a Manchester City side who have conceded in eight of their last 11 home league games. Add to that the fact that Manchester City could rest some key figures in preparation for their upcoming FA Cup Semi Final, and backing a Manchester City Win and Both Teams to Score bet looks a good option. We’re going for that along with a 3-1 win for the hosts.
