Huge 551/1 double tip for this week's golf events

The Presidents Cup and Open de France take place this week and Racing Post golf expert Steve Palmer has put together a huge 551/1 double covering the two tournaments.

Steve usually provides us with winners doubles and trebles, but as the Presidents Cup is a team event he’s picked out his top points scorer and combined that with a big price option for the Open de France.  As always, he recommends backing this double as an each-way bet.

551/1 Golf each-way double

Chance a 551/1 each-way double on this week’s two tournaments – the Presidents Cup and the Cazoo Open de France.

The Presidents Cup takes place in front of hordes of American fans at Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, North Carolina. It is a four-day competition which starts on Thursday and finishes on Sunday.

There are 30 points up for grabs – two sessions of foursomes, two sessions of fourballs and 12 singles matches – and the home team seems likely to secure most of them.

The likes of Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas should win plenty of matches, but the best value for top points scorer is arguably Jordan Spieth at 11/1.

The former world number one looks set to join forces with Thomas in a formidable partnership. This dynamic duo have won points in Ryder Cup combat against much stronger opposition than they will face this week.

The Internationals could easily be completely outclassed all week – and Spieth will expect to put lots of points on the board.

If American captain Davis Love pairs Spieth and Thomas for all of the first four sessions, there seems every chance that both men will enter the Sunday singles with four points apiece. Spieth is a bigger price than Thomas and the more attractive option.

The French Open looks a wonderful opportunity for Richie Ramsay to continue his excellent 2022 campaign.

The accurate Scot nearly won the British Masters in May, then got over the line in front in the Cazoo Classic in July, ending a victory drought of more than seven years.

Ramsay is well suited to this week’s venue – Le Golf National – and he has twice finished fifth in the French Open there (2011 and 2019). In his current mood, the 45/1 chance can be expected to contend again.
