      Aberdeen vs Airdrieonians Predictions

      • Aberdeen have won six of their last seven matches
      • Four of the Dons’ last five games have featured at least four goals
      • Over 2.5 goals was a winning beat in 12 of Airdrie’s last 14 matches

Dons out to impress new boss

Aberdeen will have been disappointed to have been left in the bottom half after the Scottish Premiership’s split last season, but they finished their campaign in style and will be hoping to put on a show in their first home match of the campaign, a League Cup clash against Airdrie.

The Dons won four and drew one of their final five games of last season and have made a strong start to life under new manager Jimmy Thelin by easing to League Cup wins over Queen Of The South and East Kilbride, who were beaten 3-0 and 4-0.

Airdrie can still make their mark

Airdrieonians, who were knocked out of the Championship playoffs by Partick Thistle last season and will be aiming to earn a top-flight spot in the coming campaign, will represent a tougher task.

They have been full of goals themselves with both Ben Wilson and Lewis McGregor scoring hat-trick in the 8-0 win over East Kilbride and they also came from 3-1 down to win 4-3 at Dumbarton.

So their defence could be vulnerable against their top-division opponents, who will be keen to put on a show in front of their own fans in the manager’s first home game.

Airdrie look capable of finding the net so we could be in for an entertaining spectacle, so back the Dons to win a game that features at least three goals, while correct-score punters are pointed towards a 3-1 home win.
