Go for goals at both ends at Pittodrie

Celtic moved back into second spot in the Premiership over the weekend as Rangers dropped points, but they remain six points adrift of pacesetters Hearts ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Aberdeen.

The Bhoys need to be close to perfect between now and the end of the season if they are to add to their collection of league winners’ medals but they face a tough assignment in midweek.

The Glasgow giants should be able to grind out a win, but the better angle for our main bet is instead backing both teams to score.

These sides met five times in total in 2025 in all competitions and both teams scored in four of those games. Aberdeen also have a strong scoring record at home as they have only failed to score in two of their last 13 home games – against Strasbourg and Rangers.

With goals conceded in 24 games, Celtic have the worst defensive record in Scotland’s top four and they have shown signs of vulnerability at the back of late with six goals conceded across their last four games in all competitions – although they have scored in each of their last eight games themselves.

Celtic are clearly the team in the greater need and they should be able to win fairly comfortably even if they do concede. The Dons have seven defeats in their last 10 games and a 3-1 win for the visitors has a chance.

Benjamin Nygren is the form man in the Celtic attack as he is on a three-game scoring streak and has five goals in his last seven appearances going back a bit further. The Swede sits second in the Premiership scoring charts with 12 goals and he can add to that at Aberdeen.
