AFC Bournemouth vs Millwall Predictions
- Bournemouth have drawn four of their last seven home games (won 3).
- Millwall have drawn four of their last five away games (lost 1).
- Both teams have scored in four of Bournemouth’s last seven home games.
- Both teams have scored in three of Millwall’s last five away games.
Lions lack knack of winning on the road
Millwall must win their final game of the season to stand any chance of finishing in the top six, but Bournemouth rarely taste defeat at home and can stop the Lions in their tracks. Gary Rowett’s team have been superb at home of late, winning seven of their last nine at The Den, but have found away wins very hard to come by.
Four draws in their last five road trips are going to prove costly if Millwall fail to make the playoffs by a point or two – although they were only actually ahead in 15 minutes of those four stalemates. They have to make a better start here in order to put some pressure on the teams above them playing elsewhere, but Millwall have only scored the opening goal in five of their last 15 away league contests.
The Cherries, who secured their return to the Premier League on Tuesday by beating third-placed Nottingham Forest, have been slow starters too in terms of goalscoring at the Vitality – grabbing the opener in only four of their last ten and failing to score before half-time in five of their last eight.
BTTS to land once game bursts into life
Despite neither team having proven to be fast out of the traps, both teams to score has landed in a majority share of the two clubs’ corresponding home and away fixtures – almost 60% of Bournemouth’s last seven and exactly that proportion of the Lions’ last five.
This could start out quite cagily but then burst into life after the first goal and we believe the value in match result betting lies in the draw. There’s nothing in the game for the Cherries – making their odds-on quote unappealing – while Millwall’s inability to win on the road of late almost rules them out of consideration too.
A 2-2 draw forecast might sound a touch fanciful, but last-day games have a habit of going a little bit crazy as teams’ focus is often not quite what it should be. Millwall have been involved in two recent 2-2 draws anyway – at Luton and Birmingham – so the big odds involved are too tempting to ignore.
