AFC Wimbledon vs Bolton Predictions
- Both teams have scored in 100% of Wimbledon’s home matches against the current bottom eight.
- Bolton have lost each of their four matches away against teams that currently reside in the bottom eight.
Dons improving?
Wimbledon finally regained the winning thread last time out, beating Gillingham away from home by two goals to one. Defeating a Gills side that was on a long unbeaten run is something that Glyn Hodges men can be proud of. They can also be pleased with the way that they’ve fared at home of late. Saturday’s hosts have lost just one of their last six at Kingsmeadow.
Against the teams in and around them down towards the bottom of the table, Wimbledon have done OK, but just OK. They’re unbeaten in four home matches against bottom-eight teams, though they’ve only won one of those four, while they’ve kept a clean sheet in none. The Dons will of course fancy themselves to beat bottom-of-the-pile Bolton, but previous results don’t exactly suggest that they’ll do so without a minor struggle.
Better from Bolton
After a string of defeats, Bolton enjoyed some respite last time out, as they drew 0-0 with Accrington Stanley at home. Not scoring wasn’t ideal, though the Trotters did secure a much-needed clean sheet.
Clean sheets are something that have largely eluded Bolton away from home this season. Excluding the three games before Bolton were saved from financial ruin, Keith Hill’s men have shut their opponents out in just two out of 12 travelling matches. They’ve conceded two or more in seven of those 12.
Hosts to claim goal-filled encounter
This is a big opportunity for Wimbledon to secure back-to-back wins for just the second time this season. The hosts really ought to get the better of a Bolton team that has struggled away from home, even against the lesser teams, losing four out of four away against the current bottom eight. That said, we shouldn’t expect the Dons to make overly light work of taking three points. ‘Wimbledon to Win & Both Teams to Score’ appeals. Wimbledon are unbeaten in matches such as this, but they have conceded in each of their four home games against the current bottom four, while Bolton have managed to find the net away in defeat against both Lincoln and Accrington this season.
A punt on a 2-1 score-line looks a solid option for those looking to land the ‘Correct Score’. Bolton have conceded two goals in four of their last six on the road, while the Dons haven’t scored more than twice since October, scoring twice on six occasions since. They’ve also conceded exactly one in three out of four against bottom-eight teams at home.
