Wolverhampton vs Luton Predictions
- Wolves are winless across their last seven games, losing five
- The hosts have been beaten in their last four home matches
- Luton need points and have a solid scoring record on the road
- The hosts posted a combined 0.56 Expected Goals across two home defeats to nil in the last week
Time running out for Luton
With just four games remaining, Luton have less than a month to secure their place in the Premier League next term. While the Hatters will likely target home clashes with Everton and Fulham as key games for them to pick up results, Saturday’s trip to Wolves looks like a golden opportunity.
The hosts are odds-on for the points and they sit 12th after a solid campaign. However, it does seem like they are running fumes right now. Wolves were hit by injuries, which culminated in their shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Coventry. They’ve never really bounced back from that loss, which offers Luton a chance this weekend.
Wolves struggling for form
Wolves are winless across seven matches and their 1-0 loss to Bournemouth in midweek saw them suffer a fifth defeat in that spell. They’ve now lost their last four home games, while it’s a concern that they’ve racked up just 0.56 Expected Goals across their last two matches at Molineux, which both ended in defeats to nil.
Luton’s forward line is struggling to click after injuries and their home record this term has been patchy. They’ve been able to grind out 1-0 wins over the other two sides in the relegation zone, but Wolves have lost as many games as they’ve won at home this season.
Luton can cause problems
Luton have scored 22 goals on their travels this term and they can cause problems for Wolves. The visitors have scored in 76% of their matches on the road and they have really gone for it at times this term, notably in their 4-4 draw at Newcastle and when they raced into a 3-0 lead at Bournemouth.
With Wolves struggling to create chances of late, Luton could well catch them cold in this trip. The Hatters have won at Everton and Sheffield United this term and with Wolves winless across their last seven games the visitors should expect to cause some problems.
This is the time of year when desperation really kicks in and that’s a huge factor against a Wolves side who look like their season ended in March. The pair shared a draw in the reverse fixture and the Hatters have put in plenty of spirited displays this term, so look to them to avoid defeat, while a 2-1 victory stands out given Wolves’ losing streak at home.
