Ukraine To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Armenia are on a three-game losing streak, and have only won one of their last 11 competitive matches. The hosts have also scored just five goals in that run – never more than one in a single game – and may struggle to test a side whose last two wins came to nil.

Ukraine 2-0

Reason for tip

Ukraine have posted six wins and three draws in past meetings with Armenia, and have won three of their last six matches. Armenia have conceded 18 goals in their last five games, including losing a friendly 9-0 in Norway in March.

Armenia vs Ukraine Predictions

  • Armenia have lost each of their last three competitive games, scoring just once.
  • Armenia have only scored five goals across their last 11 competitive games, winning one.
  • Ukraine have posted three wins in their last six competitive games, two of them to nil.

Can Ukraine stay in the hunt?

Wednesday’s 3-0 thrashing at Hampden Park leaves Ukraine two points adrift of Scotland in Group B1 of the Nations League, though a victory over Armenia – ranked 92nd in the world – would tee up a final-game battle with Steve Clarke’s men for qualification. Although Ukraine’s results have – understandably – been inconsistent this year, Joaquin Caparros’ impotent team may struggle to trouble them.

Indeed, Ukraine hammered Armenia 3-0 in Lodz, Poland in June, one of three victories managed by Oleksandr Petrakov’s team in their last six outings. With just nine goals being scored across their four Nations League games (five for and four against), Ukraine have not struggled to keep things tight, and their last two victories have both come to nil.

Armenia, meanwhile, are on a three-match losing streak, with two of those recent defeats coming to nil. Caparros’ team have only scored five goals across their last 11 competitive matches, with a 1-0 victory over Ireland their only success in that time. Furthermore, Armenia have never beaten Ukraine in nine previous meetings, scoring just eight goals and conceding 20, and that record looks unlikely to improve on Saturday.

Visitors set for shutout win

Armenia’s dire attacking form should see Ukraine enjoy a routine outing on their trip to Yerevan, and backing Petrakov’s team to win to nil – ensuring they stay within touching distance of Scotland – appears the value play.

Meanwhile, a 2-0 Ukraine win could represent a solid correct score prediction – Armenia have shipped 18 goals in their last five games, including March’s 9-0 friendly thrashing by Norway.
