Malaga Double Chance (Win or Draw)

      Reason for tip

Both Celta Vigo and Malaga are searching for a first win of the season and despite the odds, it is the visitors who look likelier to land that on Sunday. Malaga have outperformed their hosts on both xG and xGA and with their only defeats coming against giants Atletico and Real Madrid, they can be regarded as overpriced.

      Malaga 1-0

      Reason for tip

Malaga may just have enough to secure three points, but it will be a cagey match regardless. They have created plenty of chances but have converted just one, so it is hard to believe that they will net more than once in a victory. Celta have blanked in three of their five games, though, so a clean sheet for the visitors is not out of the question.

      Celta Vigo vs Malaga Predictions

      • Both sides are searching for a first win of the season
      • Celta Vigo have won just one of their last eight games
      • Malaga’s two defeats have come at Real and Atletico Madrid

Vigo’s slow start set to continue

With their Europa League campaign kicking off on Wednesday, Celta Vigo will be eager to finally spring into gear after a sluggish start to the La Liga season.

Celta are still on the hunt for a first league win, losing two and drawing three of their five games, but they will feel that Sunday’s visit from another pointless side, Malaga, looks a golden opportunity to earn that maiden success.

The visitors have drawn two and lost the other two of their four games since gaining promotion and are big underdogs in Vigo. However, they have performed better than their results suggest and actually look a touch overpriced given the opposite is true for Celta.

Malaga may have enough to stun Celta

Ahead of this weekend, only Getafe (2.8) had accumulated fewer expected goals than Celta Vigo’s 3.0 while their xGA figure of 7.7 was also the third-highest in the division.

Malaga, in contrast, have racked up 4.4 expected goals and given up only 5.6 at the other end. If they can sort out their finishing, they should soon distance themselves from a relegation scrap.

Following a strong 2025-26 campaign, Celta’s poor start will have knocked their confidence and they are becoming hard to trust, so side with Malaga in the double-chance market.
