Barnsley vs AFC Bournemouth Predictions

  • Barnsley are winless in their last 11 games in all competitions, losing seven of those.
  • Bournemouth beat Barnsley 3-0 earlier in the season.
  • The Cherries have won two of their last three away from home.
  • 10 of Bournemouth’s 14 league wins have been accompanied by clean sheets.

Cherries have chance to claim vital victory

Bournemouth are in the midst of a rough patch but Saturday’s trip to rock bottom Barnsley looks like a good opportunity for them to pick up a much-needed three points.

The Cherries have just two wins in their last 10 Championship outings and have lost five of those, including their last two, but Barnsley are having a miserable campaign and anything other than an away win would register a shock.

The Tykes are winless in their last 11 games in all competitions and they have lost seven of those. Barnsley have avoided defeat in their last three home games but they were lucky to claim points against Huddersfield and West Brom, and arguably fortunate to avoid defeat against four-tier Barrow in the FA Cup in their last game at Oakwell.

Bournemouth beat Barnsley 3-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season and they should be able to claim another fairly comfortable win on Saturday, despite their current dip in form. Scott Parker’s men have still been putting in some strong performances and they enjoyed more possession and created more chances than Hull in a 1-0 loss at home to the Tigers last time out, so they should be able to get their automatic promotion bid back on track with a victory at Barnsley.

The South Yorkshire side have failed to score in three of their last four home games in the league and as 10 of Bournemouth’s 14 league wins have been accompanied by clean sheets the visitors may be able to keep a shut-out at Oakwell. Barnsley have only conceded more than two goals in one of their last eight league games, and they’ve conceded exactly two in three of their last five, so a 2-0 win for Bournemouth appeals in the correct score market.
