Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Benfica have seen their last six home games contained three or more goals, with both teams netting in half of those outings, whereas Porto, who have scored in a dozen successive outings, have seen 3+ strikes in ten of their last dozen fixtures, five of which have ended in both teams scoring.

Benfica vs FC Porto Predictions

  • Benfica have only failed to score in one of their last 14 games
  • Porto have netted in a dozen successive outings
  • Six Benfica home fixtures in a row have featured 3+ goals

Can Benfica make headway in top two battle?

Benfica head into this game sitting five points behind opponents Porto in the Primeira Liga table, although they do have a game in hand on their opponents.

They have been in particularly wonderful form at home, winning each of their five league outings there, while half a dozen matches at the Estadio da Luz have featured at least three goals.

Three of them have seen both teams score, while the Eagles have also scored in all bar one of their last 14 outings – and that was a 1-0 Champions League reversal at Bayern Munich in midweek.

Porto flying high

The visitors will be attempting to make it back-to-back defeats for Benfica, although they too lost in midweek, going down 2-1 to Lazio in the Europa League.

That was the 12th successive game that Vítor Bruno’s side have scored in, while ten of those clashes have contained three or more goals.

The question is whether they can keep that going at Benfica, but that stats are good for the Dragons, who have won six times in seven away matches since the end of March.

I predict that both teams will score and that there will be three or more goals in this game, selecting 2-2 as my correct score prediction.
