Narrow win for Rovers

Under 2.5 goals looks the bet when Blackburn host Stoke at Ewood Park in the Championship on Saturday.

Six of the last seven times that Stoke have visited in the league have produced under 2.5 goals and the Potters’ last five games in the competition have all gone under.

Stoke’s 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough kept up that run, and it was a decent point for a side who were 27/10 outsiders to win.

The league table supports Stoke’s case. They are third in the Championship, 19 places and eight points above Blackburn, with four wins, two draws and two defeats from their eight games, while the hosts have two wins and five losses from their seven matches.

That gap is reflected in their current trajectories. This is a difficult spell for Rovers, with five defeats in their last seven Championship games. They have been beaten in their last three home matches, and Stoke have won five of the last seven meetings between the two sides.

However, for all their struggles, Blackburn are not alone in finding goals hard to come by. They have scored just six goals in seven Championship games this season, while Stoke have failed to score in four of their last six away matches.

A narrow 1-0 victory for Blackburn looks the most likely outcome in the correct-score market. At least one of the sides has failed to score in six of the last eight Championship head-to-heads, and Stoke’s last two defeats have both ended 1-0.
