Bologna vs Palermo Betting Tips

In Sunday morning’s Serie A action, rock bottom Bologna will hope to pick up just their second win of the season when they welcome a Palermo side that has lost four straight and is win-less in five games.

Bologna’s return to top flight Italian football hasn’t gone to plan so far. They’ve lost six of seven, and their only win was a 1-0 decision over fellow basement dwellers Frosinone. In their match-ups before the international break, they helped Udinese and Juventus snap out of win-less runs and they’ll desperately need to avoid providing a similar gift to Palermo on Sunday.

After winning two games to start the season, and after finishing in the top half in 2014-15, Palermo’s run of poor form is perhaps a little surprising. They were a balanced side one year ago, usually playing a strong defensive game, but very capable of stepping up and attacking with energy. They haven’t necessarily been beaten by any bad teams, though a home loss to Sassuolo stands out and most teams have handled AC Milan relatively well.

Three Reasons for Betting Tips

1. Superb odds

Palermo’s form is a cause for concern, but we still think it’s early enough in the season to temper what we see on the field with preseason expectations. They should win this game and 2/1 odds represent a significant opportunity.

2. Defensive-minded Bologna

Bologna are somewhat negative in their approach and we just don’t see them attacking and disrupting the way in which Palermo might prefer to play naturally. That’s a significant advantage for Palermo, who will want a slow-paced style of game.

3. Picking the better team

Palermo have the better and more experienced squad and the better and more experienced starting XI.
