Bologna begin Coppa Italia defence

Bologna stunned AC Milan in the final of the Coppa Italia last season and they kick off their bid for back-to-back titles with a home tie against Serie A rivals Parma on Thursday.

The Rossoblù saw a 12-game unbeaten run ended in a 3-1 loss at home to Cremonese on Monday but they can bounce back in the cup. Bologna perhaps had one eye on this fixture going into that defeat, and on the balance of play they were unlucky not to take at least a point.

Bologna won 3-1 at Parma at the start of November, and the visitors have been poor travellers this season. Parma have won just one of their six trips, losing three, and they have scored just three away goals all season.

Bologna have three clean sheets in their last five games overall and four in their last six at home. With Parma struggling for goals, a home win to nil looks a solid option for our main bet.

Parma may be struggling for goals on the road but they have been reasonably solid at the back and are yet to concede more than twice in an away game, so a 2-0 win for Bologna has a chance in the correct score market.
