Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich Predictions
- Over 3.5 goals have been scored in four of Dortmund’s last six games.
- There have been at least four goals scored in three of Bayern’s last five.
- Harry Kane has scored nine goals in his last six games across all comps.
Dortmund in dire need of Der Klassiker win
Borussia Dortmund saw their Champions League bid extinguished in Bergamo on Wednesday but they need to pick themselves up quickly for a crucial Der Klassiker at the Westfalenstadion on Saturday.
Bayern Munich hold an eight-point lead over Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga so a win for the hosts would give them a glimmer of hope in the title battle, while a defeat would effectively end their chances and a draw isn’t much use either.
Goals the best starting point
Bayern won the reverse fixture 2-1 earlier in the season and they are the more likely victors here, as they have won 19 of their 23 league games and have had longer to prepare for this derby date with no midweek assignment.
However, Dortmund have a reasonable recent record against the Bavarians and are the team in greater need so it could be better to focus on other markets for our main bet and over 3.5 goals looks a strong play.
Over 3.5 goals have been scored in four of Dortmund’s last six games and they have scored at least twice themselves in nine consecutive Bundesliga games. Bayern have seen at least four goals scored in three of their last five games, and they have scored an outrageous 85 goals in just 23 league games this season.
Kane can strike in Bayern win
I’m expecting a fairly close game but Bayern can edge out BVB and secure a 3-2 win, potentially with a late goal to secure the victory as a draw would be of little use to Dortmund and they would have to keep attacking if the scores were level going into the closing stages.
The standout bet is probably an anytime effort for Harry Kane as he comes into the game in sensational form. The England international has nine goals in total across his last six games in all competitions, scoring in all of those games, and he’s scored 28 goals already in the Bundesliga this season.
